2 — Test Card, 11:55 PM
The convex face of a cathode tube filling the frame, colour bars bending at the corners, one fingerprint left on the glass.
This was the last image of the night, and everyone alive then knew it meant the day was over. Close enough that the curvature of the glass becomes the composition, the bars hold a saturation no flat screen produces — phosphor bloom, visible scanlines, dust in the corners.
