Everything Still Works

1 — Blank Label

A grey cartridge standing at life size, its blank label lifting at one corner, a coloured glow still escaping the connector.

Nobody ever wrote on it. The label is a pale field of fibre and dust, curling away from the shell after thirty years in a drawer, and the gold contacts below still catch a raking light as if the machine were about to read them. The world this object opened is present here only as the colour leaking from the slot.
